Volvo Penta is the engine supplier of the Volvo group and will be integrated in the Volvo stand at Bauma 2010 in Munich, Germany. Based on Volvo as a world-leading developer and manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines, Volvo Penta utilises the strength and expertise of the Volvo group to offer customer orientated Power Systems to a wide range of applications all over the world. The exhibition will run between April 19 - 25.

Volvo Penta is now launching an Internet sales channel through www.volvopentashop.com. This web shop offers new opportunities for end customers to purchase spare parts and accessories, quickly, easily and securely.

The shipyard Baltic Workboats has signed a contract of designing and building of a 16 meter fast pilot boat equipped with twin IPS1050 units.

With the IPS system, Volvo Penta has revolutionised the market for traditional inboard installations. Five years after its launch, there are already more than 10,000 IPS units on the market. The IPS program is now being expanded still further. With new and larger drive units coupled to the 13 liter engine, Volvo Penta will launch a further two power classes, IPS1050 and IPS1200, this year.

With Volvo Penta’s IPS system, the customer has access to several smart accessories that makes boating simpler and more environmentally friendly.

The new Volvo Penta D3 super diesel sterndrive is here – compact and filled with ultramodern engine technology. The new D3, in four power classes from 140 to 220 horsepower, is faster, more powerful, cleaner and quieter than its predecessor. And now it is also available with a joystick.

The new Volvo Penta D3 is filled with the most advanced engine technology available on the market today. This ultramodern diesel engine is now being launched in two versions, 110 and 150 horsepower – both offering cleaner, quieter and more comfortable engine operation for sailboat owners.

Volvo Penta’s new generation of inboard engines, D3, is flexible to say the least. There are no less than five versions from 110 to 220 hp with the two smallest being low-revolution engines for non-planing boats. Electronic shift and throttle and even lower levels of emissions, sound and vibrations are among the new features.

Watching whales is a unique natural experience in sensitive marine environments. When a new whale-watching boat was recently launched in New Zealand, it was preceded by meticulous tests to identify the most environmentally sound engine alternative.

When the Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi took place this weekend, 44 Volvo Penta diesel engines provided the electrical power for the lighting around the track.
