Emission regulations

As a world wide supplier of marine and industrial engines, Volvo Penta products have to confirm with a number of emission rules and regulations. Customer demands for engines free from smoke, smell and noise are increasing.

For industrial diesel engines, regulations are in place in US, EU and some Asian countries. This is the case also for marine commercial engines. More stringent requirements will come for both segments within the next few years.

For marine leisure engines the first comprehensive EU emission regulations are valid from 2006. More stringent US rules are entering into force during 2006-2007. Some regions in the world have local regulations valid for a specific area or water.

Volvo Penta market products with certificates of compliance issued by internationl/national authorities as US EPA, CARB, EU (non road), IMO, SAV, Ministry of Construction in Japan and River Rhine.
