The best diesel technology

At Volvo Penta we use the technology best suited to the situation. Our diesel engines, for example, have three different systems for fuel injection:

• The D1 and D2 have mechanical systems, which are well suited to their limited cubic capacity.
• The medium-sized D3, D4 and D6 engines have electronically controlled common rail.
• The large D9, D11 and D12 diesels have electronically controlled unit injectors.

We complement this with what is most suitable: turbo of different types, mechanical compressor, 4-valve technology, aftercooler, etc.

But basically, we take from modern technology what is most suitable for each engine type in order to achieve the best performance with the least possible emissions.
