Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. and AB Volvo Penta today announced that they have signed a technical agreement for the joint development of control systems for boats with outboard motors.

The Mercurius Shipping Group, located in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands, has recently launched a new concept for an inland waterway vessel, called the “M-factor”. The vessel is powered by Volvo Penta marine diesel engines both for propulsion and bowthruster.

Volvo Penta is introducing the D13, a new inboard marine diesel for marine commercial applications. The D13 is available in 700 hp and 800 hp versions and delivers impressive performance with low fuel consumption and minimal exhaust emissions. It is suitable for fast patrol boats in high speed operations as well as for high-performance work boats requiring low life-cycle costs.

Volvo Penta introduces EVC-D, the fourth and latest version of the company’s electronic platform, which includes electronic shift and throttle all the way from the controls to the engine. EVC-D offers a complete series of new controls with a high level of styling, ergonomics and overall driver experience. New EVC functions, all easily managed through push-buttons on the control head, are also introduced.

Volvo Penta is presenting a comprehensive range of SOLAS approved engines (M.E.D. and US Coast Guard) for fast life- and rescue boats. The range comprises three base engines, with no less than 14 output options from 110 to 435 hp, all of which are in-line diesels with common rail and the latest in electronic management for sterndrive, inboard and water jet propulsion.

Performer will soon be delivered to Northern Offshore Services in Sweden and will go straight into duty in an offshore wind power park south of Denmark. Performer lives up to her name by providing full service speed with a full load and in rough seas, thanks to twin Volvo Penta IPS1050 pods.
