The pace of product development is intense during the 1990s and new products are launched constantly. The most notable launches include following:
1994. Electronic fuel injection is extended throughout the gasoline program as reflected in the compact 6-liter 63 engine introduced together with the 770 hp, 16-liter TAMD163, Volvo Penta's most powerful engine.
1995. New products include the 22/SX concept that combines compact diesel power with Aquamatic, thus comprising a highly attractive alternative to traditional outboards. The 12-liter high-performance TAMD122 is an instant success in the leisure craft market and the heavy-duty 16-liter TAMD163A is aimed at marine commercial propulsion and marine generator sets.
1996 sees the introduction of the TAMD122 EDC and the patented three-blade folding propeller that combines excellent performance under power with very low resistance when the boat is sailing.
1997 is the year when the extended KAD-series is launched. You can read more in the Full story.
1998. TAD740 and TWD740 are two low-emission industrial engines featuring electronic control. TAMD74 EDC is a powerful marine diesel for high-performance applications.
1999 brings the introduction of new versions of the TAMD74: The TAMD74L for leisure and high-performance commercial craft and the TAMD74A for heavy-duty applications. For all types of commercial operations, the TAMD103 features increased power and low exhaust emissions. The high-end series comprises V8 gasoline engines and DPX drives for very high performance leisure boats.
