The KAD300, which was introduced last summer, has exceeded all sales goals and become a great success. The package, featuring a powerful diesel engine and Duoprop-drive, has proven that it fits perfectly with the very popular Sportscruiser boats of from 27 to 40 feet.

Tug 802, the first in a series of three tugboats under construction at Chernomorsky Shipbuilding in the Ukraine, is now launched. Sea trials have been successful and the specified targets for thrust were exceeded. All of the engines onboard were supplied by Volvo Penta, which also delivered complementary equipment.

Volvo Penta’s sales continued to increase during the first quarter of 2002. Total sales amounted to SEK 1,962 M, which was an increase of 13% compared with the year-earlier period. Volvo Penta thus achieved the best sales results ever in the company’s history.

Volvo Penta continues to broaden its engine program for marine professional applications. The latest additions are the D5 and D7, a series of five- and seven-liter marine diesels for heavy and medium-heavy commercial operation and marine auxiliary systems. The new engines involved a substantial expansion of Volvo Penta’s customer offerings for various types of smaller workboats.

Volvo Penta is now introducing its new D12 Heavy Duty – a 12-liter marine diesel that, with its totally electronic control, is the first of a new generation of engines for heavy commercial operations.

Spaniard D. Manuel Nores has truly dedicated his life to fishing. After starting as a cabin-boy at 13, during the past 50 years he has built up his own fishing company, which now comprises a fleet of 14 ships. Norway’s M/F Nordfjord is the world’s first ferry that fulfills requirements for the “Clean Design” classification. Among the strict demands of clean design are low-level emissions to water and air, as well as a high level of reliability against environmental impact in the event of an accident. The engines on board were supplied by Volvo Penta.
