1990 - 1999
In the 1990s, the pace of business activity increases rapidly. New products are developed in ever-shorter time scales, and the organization is changed constantly to adapt it to the market. Commercial and industrial segments of the marine market are becoming more important due to the leisure segment's sensitivity to economic fluctuations.
The KAD engine concept is launched in 1991 with the introduction of the KAD42 Aquamatic and the KAMD42 inboard.
In 1992, a new unit for the production of gasoline engines and Aquamatic drives is formed in Lexington, Tennesee, USA. EDC - electronic diesel control - developed by Volvo Penta is introduced in 1995. Volvo Penta Asia Ltd is formed to strengthen the focus on this increasingly important market and RailPac is introduced.
In March 1998, Staffan Jufors is appointed president of Volvo Penta Corporation.
