2000 - power boosting new engine range
In 2000, Volvo Penta announces the introduction of an entirely new engine range that massively extends power output up to 1,380 kW (1,850 hp) and substantially expands the market for the company's commercial marine products. Built to meet Volvo Penta's own exacting standards, the new range includes in-line 6-cylinder units and, for the first time for the company, V12 and V16 configuration engines. The engines are available worldwide, with qualified support provided by selected and specially trained dealers in the Volvo Penta network.
The new Large Diesel Range comprises five basic engine sizes from 24.5- to 65.4-liter displacement. These new engines open an entirely new spectrum of applications for Volvo Penta power. Reliable, long-lasting and fuel-efficient engines with low exhaust emissions provide the perfect power source for applications ranging from coastal freighters and fishing vessels to harbor tugs and barges operating along inland waterways. They are also ideally suited for auxiliary purposes and marine generator sets.
