Volvo Penta’s new 7” color display is a true information center for the boat. The display can show engine data from up to three engines, trip computer information and information from different sensors, e.g. rudder angle, water temperature and freshwater tank.

Tow mode for Volvo Penta’s gasoline engines with sterndrive makes wakeboarding, waterskiing and other water sports simpler, safer and more fun – for both driver and e.g. skier. In tow mode, the boat automatically accelerates up to a preset rpm and maintains this rpm regardless of what the skier does.

Three years ago, Volvo Penta introduced the pleasure boat industry’s first joystick, which, coupled to Volvo Penta’s IPS system, made docking simpler and safer. This year, Volvo Penta is introducing joystick also for sterndrives.

With the IPS system, Volvo Penta has revolutionized the market for traditional inboard installations. With newer, larger drive units, the Volvo Penta IPS system is expanding with two more power classes: IPS900 and IPS800.

This year’s Volvo Ocean Race covers an entirely new course and will be the longest and toughest to date. Eight yachts will line up for the start on October 11 in Alicante, Spain. Each boat is equipped with two diesel engines from Volvo Penta.

Stringent emission regulations and high demand for fuel efficiency are behind two new Dutch inland eco tankers currently under construction. The power source chosen is a diesel electric system with five Volvo Penta D16s providing power for propulsion and all power supply onboard.
