VOLVO PENTA AND SUSTAINABILITY

OUR SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY

At Volvo Penta, our dedication to developing new solutions is nothing new. We’ve always been this way. Curious. Eager. Never afraid to push the limits and explore new possibilities. Today, we combine our long history of sustainable innovation with a keen eye on the future. Because this is how we will discover the sustainable solutions of tomorrow. Both on land and at sea.

THE LAUNCH OF THE INBOARD PERFORMANCE SYSTEM

With the Inboard Performance System (IPS), Volvo Penta was the first company in the world to provide our customers with “fly-by-wire” technology. This was a true game-changer. IPS made the boat faster, stronger, quieter, and easier to handle. But most importantly, it made boating cleaner by lowering fuel consumption by up to 30%.

When the United Nation Environment Programme launched the Clean Seas campaign, Volvo Penta instantly became a supporter. Our goal was to boost engagement in the campaign and highlight the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans.

ELECTROMOBILITY PROJECTS ON LAND AND AT SEA

Actions are taken in electric-driving technology to enhance our electrified solutions for industrial and marine applications. We investigate electric driveline solutions to help power the next generation of Volvo Penta products including securing, testing and evaluating. This is the foundation on which the electromobility solutions we offer today are based.

SUPPORTING THE SWITCH TO 100% HVO FUEL

When other suppliers didn’t accept HVO fuel in their vehicle warranty, we revised our terms to support the RoRo Terminal in Gothenburg and their decision to switch to 100% HVO fuel. We are committed to alternative fuels and HVO is approved in all Volvo Penta diesel engines.
