Production all Around the World

Volvo Penta has wholly owned plants in Vara (Sweden) for manufacturing 3-, 4- and 5-liter diesel engines and Lexington (Tennessee, USA) for manufacturing all gasoline engines. The majority of Volvo Penta’s diesel engines are manufactured at Volvo’s common engine plant in Skövde, Sweden. Since 2009, Volvo Penta has had a final assembling factory for diesel engines in Lingang, China. Volvo Penta’s sterndrives are manufactured at the Lexington plant and at Volvo's common transmission plant in Köping, Sweden.


Volvo’s common diesel engine factory in Skövde, Sweden, produces engines for trucks, buses, construction equipment and Volvo Penta.


Volvo Penta’s plant in Vara, Sweden, is the world's only engine factory specialized in the mass production of marine diesel engines.


Volvo Penta’s wholly-owned plant in Lexington, Tennessee (USA), assembles Volvo Penta’s full range of gasoline engines.


ADC Lingang is the Distribution Hub for Asian markets and began operations on January 18, 2009.


Lyon is the Platform and Application Center for Developing Medium Duty Engines and Axles.


Köping is the Volvo Group's center of excellence for manufacturing transmissions – gearboxes and marine drives. Some of the well known products produced in Köping include I-shift and Powertronic gearboxes, and the IPS marine drive.


Curitiba has been part of Volvo Powertrain Operations since it was established for Volvo in 2001.
