The two Indonesian islands of Batam and Karimun Besar are connected by a ferry service – a small fleet of ferries operated by PT Palindo.
The vessels are equipped with three Volvo Penta D16 marine diesel engines, each with an output of 750 hp. The factors that convinced Palindo included short leadtimes, good support, a competitive package and a proven track record from Indonesia Navy patrol boats.
The route is immediately south of Singapore. Capacity is 200 passengers and the trip takes an hour and a half.
