Day and night, big impressive machines are working up a smooth flow of roll on/roll off cargo in trailers and railroad cars at the Port of Göteborg.
For Älvsborg Roro, a highly specialized cargo handling company, it adds up to over 10 million tonnes of goods every year. That’s about half of all the 530,000 units that pass through the port.
Volvo Penta engines are installed in around half of the company’s machines, including reach stackers, straddle carriers, forklifts, tug masters and terminal tractors. Big, amazing machines designed for non-stop heavy-duty performance.
“The engine would have an easier life elsewhere,” says Anders Hedlund, who works with technical engineering at Älvsborg Roro. “It’s tough here, and we make great demands of our equipment.”
