Reaseheath College is one of the UK’s leading specialist land-based colleges, based in Nantwich, Cheshire. Reaseheath has an excellent reputation for its engineering courses. Reaseheath College has recently invested £8 million into a brand new Advanced Engineering and Agri-Tech Centre which is one of the most sophisticated education centres of its type in Britain. Where will I work? |
In order to gain a place on the Apprenticeship programme, a Volvo Penta Industrial Dealer must sponsor you. Here, you will be a full time employee of the dealer from day one and become part of the technical team while you train. |
Where do I complete my training? |
You will carry out your training in three, three week blocks at Reaseheath College. Reaseheath College is equipped with the latest equipment and you will have use of the most up to date information and tooling. You will also spend time at Volvo Penta UK & Ireland’s HQ training facility receiving bespoke manufacturer training. |
Where is Reaseheath College Located? |

Will I be a paid employee at the dealership? |
Yes. All apprentices who are successful in gaining a position at a Volvo Penta Industrial dealership will be contracted and paid as a full time employee with that dealer. |
What qualifications do I achieve? |
If you choose to study the industrial sector, you will achieve an Industrial Land Based Service Engineering (Construction & Plant) Technician Qualification level 3 Advanced. |
Does my training stop once I’m qualified? |
No, it doesn't. At Volvo Penta Industrial you will be encouraged to increase your knowledge with future technical training courses, at their UK headquarters in Warwick. The opportunities within a global organisation like Volvo are endless. For the right, focused individuals we can offer a clear career path that may even lead to product or training specialist at Volvo. |
Are there other benefits to me? |

How frequently will I be on block, and how long is a block? |
Attendance at Reaseheath College will be on a block release basis. Apprentices’ will be required to attend Reaseheath on a three-week block, three times a year. Accommodation and travel cost(s) will be covered by the company. Apprentices stay at the college Monday-Thursday night and return home Friday for the weekends. |
Where will I stay during block? |
Apprentices will stay in student accommodation in the college grounds. |
How will I get to Reaseheath College? |
Your travel arrangements will be arranged in advance by your dealership, and depending on where your dealership is based, you may be travelling by car, bus or train. |
Driving |
If apprentices choose to drive to college, you should ensure that their insurance covers for business use. Parking is available at the college free of charge. |
Train |
The nearest train station to the college is Crewe Railway Station. Train travel will be booked in advance through the company. A bus is available every Monday morning to collect apprentices from the train station. It will also take apprentices back to the station on Friday afternoon. |
How much will the training cost me? |
The training is completely free of charge and paid for by Volvo. The only cost to you is your dedication and commitment to succeed. |

What are the requirements? |
To enrol for the Volvo Penta Industrial Apprenticeship you must be aged 16 or over and have the right attitude to learn, by showcasing determination and commitment to succeed. |
