Volvo Penta Executive Will Be a Featured Expert Speaker in Educational Backup Power Generation Webinars

(Chesapeake. Va.) – Nov. 8, 2021 – Volvo Penta will take a lead role in a pair of educational webinars this month to discuss the current state-of-the-art and future directions for sustainable backup power systems.

Darren Tasker, vice president, industrial, for Volvo Penta of the Americas, who will speak at both events, commented: “Government bodies and private industry are looking for ways to reduce carbon footprint to achieve net-zero goals without sacrificing power and reliability. At the same time, recent events such as hurricanes, floods, wildfires and other disruptions to the electric power grid have brought to the forefront concerns about resilient and reliable backup solutions to protect critical infrastructure and public health.”

The first webinar, sponsored by the Diesel Technology Forum on Nov. 9, will address “Power Solutions for Ensuring Electric Grid Reliability and Resilience.” The live webcast will run from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Speakers will include representatives from major diesel manufacturers, including Peterson Power Systems - Caterpillar, Cummins, Rolls Royce Solutions America and Johnson Matthey, as well as Volvo Penta. The interactive discussion will explore the issues and options for ensuring reliable and continuous supply of electricity and will focus on opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing emissions, as well as future fuel and technology developments.

The Diesel Technology Forum is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of diesel engines, fuel and technology. Forum members are global leaders in clean diesel technology and represent the three key elements of the modern clean-diesel system: advanced engines, vehicles and equipment, cleaner diesel fuel and emissions-control systems.

The second webinar, entitled “Renewable Fuels as a Low Carbon Solution for Resiliency Needs,” will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Nov.10. Speakers will include senior executives from Volvo Penta, PowerSecure and Neste. The moderator will be Elisa Wood, energy journalist and editor-in-chief of Microgrid Knowledge magazine. The speakers will explore the future transformation of power generation technology from current fossil fuels to alternative fuels and technologies to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emission targets. The emerging conversation on renewable fuels as a drop-in alternative will be a center focus.

“We encourage everyone involved at all levels in the backup power generation ecosystem, including government, regulatory bodies, industry and academia, to attend these educational sessions to learn more about future directions for sustainable diesel technology,” Tasker said.

Admission to both webinars is free, but pre-registration is required.
