The Steinlager 2 is a legendary racing yacht, built in New Zealand in the late 1980s. It won a number of races including all six legs of the Whitbread 1989-90.
In 2012, “Steinie” was acquired by the NZ Saling Trust and returned to New Zealand for careful restoration. This naturally included the two original Volvo Penta engines. Still fit for fight, they were just as new after reconditioning.
