The 35th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show will take place March 25 – 28, 2021 in West Palm Beach. The event, produced by Informa Markets, will showcase more than $1.2 billion in super yachts and luxury boating products.
This will be Volvo Penta’s first year exhibiting live at this prestigious event. In 2020, the company participated as part of the show’s virtual format due to the pandemic.
Docking can be one of the most stressful and challenging aspects of boating – even for experienced captains. The consequences of getting it wrong when you are docking a boat are expensive, at best – and that is in fair weather. Add crowded marinas, strong winds, and rough currents and the outcome can be problematic and even quite dangerous. But Volvo Penta has now taken its joystick-docking technology and Easy Boating solutions to the next level in its continued efforts to make docking a less stressful endeavor.
Visitors to Volvo Penta’s main booth will have the chance to see what it would be like to dock a boat with the newly introduced Assisted Docking through a virtual reality (VR) experience. The Assisted Docking system gives the captain better control when docking a boat by automating his or her intentions, compensating for some dynamic variables, such as wind and current, and helping the vessel stay on its intended course.
Debuted earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Volvo Penta’s Assisted Docking technology aims to address one of the most challenging aspects of boating – docking. The system integrates a software layer developed in house with the company’s GPS-based Dynamic Positioning System and proprietary Inboard Performance Systems (IPS) for a complete package including HMI (human-machine interface) at the helm, electronics via the engine, propulsion systems and sensors, and advanced navigation processing power for a simpler boating experience, even in rough conditions.
A range of Volvo Penta’s proven easy boating solutions will be on display at the Volvo Penta booth and in our mobile trailer exhibition. A highlight of the booth will be the revolutionary Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system. This innovative system exceeds expectations of fuel economy, comfort and maneuverability, along with higher speeds and faster acceleration too. With this package, owners will fuel less, and feel more – making the most of their experience on the water.
With over 100,000 units proven on the waters, the Volvo Penta D4 and D6 marine propulsion packages got a comprehensive helm-to-prop update in 2019, delivering more power and reliability, while operating costs are cut by a third. The updates include newly designed engines, a completely new aquamatic sterndrive, an updated IPS drive and an upgraded Electronic Vessel Control System. The proven D4 and D6 marine engines now deliver more power, increased reliability and lower cost of ownership. They are available from 150-480 hp. To see this new technology and power for yourself, visit the Volvo Penta booth to see the new D6-400 engine with DPI drive.
Another solution on display is our next generation sterndrive V8-430 with Forward Drive & Silent Shift – a popular power solution for watersport boats that result in low noise levels, low emission levels and impressive acceleration power.
Boaters across the globe have been able to place the boat in the palm of their hand with Easy Connect, which you can also experience for yourself at our booth. With this app, available for iOS and Android devices, you’ll be able to plan for upcoming journeys and share routes with friends, review all of your engine’s data and send any diagnostic codes directly to your authorized Volvo Penta dealer.
