The SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust after treatment system is tailored for a perfect fit. The SCR unit, also a silencer, reduces noise by 35-40 dBA. Volvo Penta has been able to fulfil IMOIII and Inland Waterway Stage V exhaust emission targets while maintaining the same low fuel consumption. And thanks to SCR, the engine power output remains unaffected. s

The engine’s robust design with a ladder frame bolted to the engine block makes it highly reliable. Its rigid in-line cylinder block with generously dimensioned crankshaft bearings, water-cooled exhaust manifold, and turbo provide a powerful engine.
Designed to withstand high exhaust back pressure, this genset is easy to install and perfect for installations that require additional, third-part emission control equipment. Easily accessible service points.
The common-rail fuel system makes the engine highly fuel efficient. The control unit monitors several parameters which reduces the overall fuel consumption and reduced exhaust emissions. The common-rail technology means minimal vibrations and low noise levels.
Together, the twin-entry turbo with pulse charging, and the highly efficient speed control system give this engine superior load-taking capability.
Volvo Penta Marine Commercial Control System is an engine control and monitoring system that is easily integrated into the ship’s control system. All actions are displayed with text messages and logged in a non-erasable memory.
